That’s one of the best things about living in Hong Kong, you don’t have to travel very far to get to an island getaway, and the options seem endless. We stayed at Banyan Tree, one of seven resorts, set within the perfect balance of sea and a lush rainforest. The service at Banyan Tree is ridiculously attentive and they go out of their way to make you feel like you’re really at your own personal getaway. Famed for their out-of-this-world spa experiences, the rainmist treatment was no exception. Our 4 days were spent lounging in our jacuzzi, ordering in, reading, and watching the world cup (Germany vs England, what a gaaaaame). To end, we had 3 hours to spend at Singapore airport before our flight, which was spent eating the best Singaporean food, for dirt cheap. Food courts FTW!!!

A while ago Cheryl introduced me to one of the most underrated treasures of Hong Kong – a leather workshop. Tucked away on a secret lane in Sheung Wan, Fungus Workshop provides you with the tools and space to be creative and really appreciate fine workmanship. Set inside white french doors with Parisian music humming in the background, a class consists of 8 students working around a communal bench, each making a leather good of their own choice. Each of the 4 instructors offer guidance when needed (which was ALL the time in our case), in either Chinese or English (or Chinglish). While so much time is spent on gadgets these days (says I while typing this on my iPhone), it’s a good change to actually spend some time really using your hands to make something worthwhile.

yeah I brought my guns to the workshop.

look Ma!

I realize I look like a child at Disneyland (nope no candy store here) in these photos, but this really does not even begin to describe HOW MUCH FUN it was.

It’s so incredibly saisfying to realize what you want to do for the rest of your life, yeah I’d ACTUALLY do this FOREVER. The kind of satisfaction pretty shoes and clothes dont provide. Yup, this was even better than shopping…how dya like them apples?

Agnès b. Le Pain Grillé was the perfect place for momma’s day brunch-turned-lunch. Despite the doucheface waiter who insisted that I couldn’t change our reservation from 5 to 6 people, the service was attentive, polite and the restaurant is just straight up cuties. The antique french decor and cozy atmosphere made the entire experience even better. We were definitely the loudest table there (as with almost any restaurant we go to as a family). Agnès b. and art have always gone hand in hand, and even the washroom was decked out with vintage movie posters (I opted NOT to bring my camera in there)

And then the food…

Cream of broccoli soup

Purple asparagus, avacado and tomato salad (umm yeah clearly not my appetizer)

Baked sea-bass fillet rolled with chanterelle and fish mousse

Grilled prime rib eye steak (medium rare of course) with Café de Paris (aaahhhhh butttuuhhhh)

and of course Paris for dessert <3.

and we got her a box of macarons from Jean-Paul Hévin Not gonna lie, I stayed clear away from the pistachio ones, who even eats pistachio flavoured macarons? mm macarons should be the new cupcakes.

Today we spent his birthday eating New Orleans pizza and fried cheese followed by a long walk in the dog park. Not sure why we chose to go to the dog park, considering Obi is perhaps the MOST antisocial dog you’ll ever come across. But anyway, he looks pretty happy don’t you think?

Last week Lane Crawford celebrated the launch of their American Apparel pop-up shop, which wouldn’t really be a big deal everywhere else in the world where AA is so easily accessible. The crowd was pretty much a combination of random teenage hipsters, super stylish people, and then d and I. The selection was actually quite disappointing, and the only one who really walked away with something was of course my mom.

While taking a break from the crowd, d and I decided to take a gander around actual Lane Crawford, leading me to come across these amazing Pedro Garcia “Patty” cut-out sandals. Now I’m not really one to wear sandals, but as soon as I put these on, foot ends were not my concern anymore. And to add to it all, they’re probably the most comfortable pair of heels I’ve ever put on my midget feet. Last September I won a gift card from LC (from the Tommy Ton contest) and it’s taking me ages to decide what to get with it, but I really think the search might be over.

This year for Easter break, Hong Kong got a WELL DESERVED five-day weekend off. I’m telling you we get ALOT of public holidays here, but I guess it kind of balances out the intense must-work-overtime mindset we also seem to have. But uh, yeah…I could definitely get used to three-day work weeks.

On the last day of holiday, we went down to Sai Kung, which used be an old school fishing village. Fishermen sell their fresh catch by the pier to buyers who just kinda shout what and how much they want from above. Besides buying straight up from the fishermen there are a ton of seafood restaurants in the area, which are mostly catered to tourists really. (But they REALLY know their seafood, so I’d recommend going at least once if you ever visit)

During the week we also puppy-sat the worst puppy EVER. Albeit super cute (note her floppy ears!!), she was a serious peeing and pooing machine. And of course King Obi (FTW!!) didn’t approve and tried to attack her every chance he got, om nom nom.

Last night I finally got around to doing a DIY, mainly because I had to occupy myself while Pooey studied all things awesome about dentistry. yuck. I’d say it’s still kind of a work in progress since the edges sometimes decide to unravel themselves spontaneously. If you only have time for one restaurant in Copenhagen, I’d suggest <a href="http://idadavidsen.dk/", target="_blank">Ida Davidsen. Serving the best Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) I’ve ever had (albeit the first), it definitely left me and my belly 100% satisfied. Plus Ida herself is actually THERE to explain all 514384014 sandwiches they have on the menu. The atmosphere is cosy, the waiters are friendly (for the most part) and the creativity that goes into their presentation is also just right (note: the egg shell cups)

The Last Bag was what I was looking forward to most after reading about it in our travel book. It’s this tiny little store in Nørreport, which has been making the same original Danish school satchel since 1954. To me it’s pretty much the epitome of timeless design since something like that isn’t confined to a single season. I instantly liked this grey ’48′ one with matching stitching which I later purchased (after first leaving the store then going back) Pooey and I decided to share it, so it was an even better buy! Made in Denmark, the leather is amazing and I can’t wait till it softens up and gets that worn-in effect over time. The guy running the store had this one satchel which started off almost white, and through years of exposure to sunlight, snow and rain, it turned a beautiful camel color. Should’ve snapped a pic!!!

Anyway for those of you that want your own, visit <a href="www.thelastbag.dk", target="_blank">The Last Bag. They do customization, including embossing of your initials, and they deliver worldwide!
Copenhagen is a beautiful (small) city. It’s a shame that we managed to visit during one of the worst winters in decades? I think that’s what someone said…but I love how everyone rides a bike, and I mean everyone. And people dress their bikes up too! How badass is that viking bike above? Reader Ingrid linked me to <a href="http://bakerby.blogspot.com", target="_blank">Bakerby, a blogger who lives in CPH, and her photos really show how picturesque Copenhagen can be.

Next time you travel anywhere, it’s best to go in spring.

By the way, my blog is now viewable on smartphones. So feel free to pay me a visit on your way to school/work or when you’re doing a big poop! ♥

Stockholm is really as awesome as all the blogs make it seem. I was kinda sad to only spend 3 days there but now looking back it was probably better that way cause it meant cramming all things cool into 72 hours. Here are the highlights in bulletpoints because nanz and I have decided they are the beesssstt:

Best Neighbourhoods: Södermalm – pretty much has all the shopping you need to do in Stockholm. You could do it all on one street actually.

Best Streetstyle: Baby above. How Givenchy SS10 is his skisuit-onesie thing?

Yummiest meal: Our pre-hockey dinner at Crêperie Fyra Knop. For dessert we had a toasted cinnamon apple one with caramel drizzle. Too much om-nom nom I forgot to photograph it :/ Address: Svartensgatan 4, Södermalm

Best day: The last day – shopping, crêpes, and a hockey game. We sat so close we could smell the sweat of the players on the side, literally. Maybe too close actually.

Biggest Relief: Not as expensive and cold as I thought it would be. -16 celsius is HAAACTUALLY tolerable.

People really are so supuh stylin’ there it was hard not to look like a frump with all my layers. Even on days where I attempted to step my game up, there’s just no comparison. I mean LOOK at that baby?

By the way, the awesomeness of shooting with a GF1 is only amplified x 100000 when you’re on holiday

Dropped Obi off at the groomers and gave in to the woman’s suggestion to give him a “mickey mouse” haircut. Why not? Mickey seems to be out and about these days. Saturday was spent walking, shopping, eating and gossiping with cheryl. Especially successful because I purchased the above grey puffy hoodie which reminded me of the awesome quilted jersey hoodies/jackets from Rick Owens Lilies. Only, mine cost probably 1% of the price. WIN!!! Kinda silly to buy winter wear right now but I couldn’t help but shop around with trip to Scandinavia in mind. But srsly? How does one dress for -15 without losing all traces of street cred? How do you look like this in -20 Celsius? Hmm…any suggestions on where to go in Stockholm and Copenhagen?
